Environmental Assessments & Peer Review
The Class Environmental Assessment is a step wise planning process used for the evaluation and approval of infrastructure projects such as sewage treatment plants, potable water supplies, highways, electrical transmission facilities. Azimuth can lead the process to evaluate the need for the project, alternatives to the undertaking, alternative methods of completing the undertaking, evaluation and selection of the preferred alternative and public and approval agency consultation to ensure compliance with the Environmental Assessment (EA) Act.
Private proponents constructing facilities that we assumed by a municipality (sewage treatment, potable water) post construction must comply with the Class EA.
Environmental Assessments are led by a senior staff member and with involvement from terrestrial and aquatic biologists, hydrogeologists and environmental engineers.
Azimuth completes peer review services for numerous municipalities throughout Ontario, as well as for other consulting firms and the general public. Azimuth’s approach is based on extensive experience reviewing development applications, to provide both simple to complex peer review services of EISs, plans of subdivisions etc, that identify compliance of work plans with environmental policy requirements considering applicable federal and provincial environmental legislation. Projects are peer reviewed having consideration of the project objectives, and our approach is scientific, collaborative, collegial, and professional.
